Find out everything you need to know about parking at Kjerag, including facilities and amenities available to visitors.

Our parking facilities can accommodate up to 400 cars, with dedicated hosts to greet you upon arrival. To ensure a smooth parking experience and avoid any potential hazards, we kindly ask for your cooperation with our team and adherence to their instructions.

Although our parking facilities are hardly ever full, the busiest times are on weekends and during the peak season of June, July, and August. We offer two parking areas: Kjerag Parking P1, our primary lot, and Kjerag Parking P2, which is available when P1 is full.

At Kjerag, we provide parking, toilet facilities, and a staffed tourist information office with free Wi-Fi.

Why does Kjerag Parking charge a fee?

Kjerag is managed by Lysefjorden Utvikling, a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining high-quality parking and trail facilities. The parking fee directly supports the upkeep of these facilities, with all revenue reinvested.

The fee helps fund our staff who work hard to keep the parking lot, toilets, and surrounding areas clean, safe, and well-organized. Providing these services, including toilets, water, sewage, waste management, WiFi, and a staffed tourist information office, is particularly costly due to Kjerag’s remote location.

We take pride in meeting visitors’ expectations and strive to enhance your experience at Kjerag. By paying the parking fee, you play a crucial role in helping us maintain these standards. We value your feedback and encourage you to share your thoughts through the anonymous questionnaire available via QR codes and tablets at our parking facilities.

NO CAMPING

Camping or sleeping in vehicles is strictly forbidden at Kjerag Parking, which is exclusively for hikers. We do not offer any camping facilities. For camping, please visit Lysebotn few kilometers away. For safety and hygiene reasons, parking rules will be strictly enforced.

Sustainability

Kjerag is part of the Lysefjord, marked as a Sustainable Destination. We want to encourage you to enjoy your hike, while also respecting the environment.

  • There are no toilets along the trail.
Please remember to use the toilet facilities at the parking lot before starting your hike. Don’t leave any sanitary products or toilet paper.
  • Do not leave any garbage behind. Carry it with you until you can dispose of it properly in the bins provided at the parking lot.

Let’s all work together to keep Kjerag clean and beautiful for future visitors to enjoy. Please follow the “leave no trace” principle and leave nothing but footprints.

Thank you for your cooperation and have a great hike!
