Le nom Kjerag (autrefois \u201cKiragg\u201d) viendrait des petits ruisseaux qui d\u00e9valent la falaise, rappelant la crini\u00e8re \u00e9bouriff\u00e9e d\u2019un jeune bouc lorsque l\u2019eau se disperse en cascade.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"502\" data-end=\"970\">Pendant l\u2019\u00e8re de la construction nationale de la Norv\u00e8ge au XIXe si\u00e8cle\u2014souvent appel\u00e9e la p\u00e9riode romantique\u2014les artistes et \u00e9crivains ont repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 Kjerag et le Lysefjord comme des paysages \u00e0 la fois dramatiques et empreints d\u2019une profonde esth\u00e9tique et d\u2019un mysticisme envo\u00fbtant. Randulff, randonneur passionn\u00e9 et membre du Stavanger Trekking Association, avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 faire conna\u00eetre Preikestolen environ 25 ans plus t\u00f4t.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"292\" data-end=\"748\">Au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1900, il fut l\u2019un des principaux promoteurs d\u2019un projet de route touristique reliant Lysebotn au Telemark\u2014un projet qu\u2019il voyait comme une opportunit\u00e9 d\u2019ouvrir la r\u00e9gion \u00e0 une nouvelle forme de tourisme. Bien que cette route ne f\u00fbt jamais r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en raison de contraintes financi\u00e8res et politiques, ses visions et son travail pour \u00e9tablir des sentiers et des refuges de montagne ont pos\u00e9 les bases du d\u00e9veloppement touristique futur.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"1316\">Il d\u00e9couvrit le rocher lors d\u2019un voyage en famille en 1925, le d\u00e9crivant comme un <strong data-start=\"832\" data-end=\"850\">\u00ab petit pois \u00bb<\/strong> coinc\u00e9 dans une fissure \u00e0 environ 700 m\u00e8tres au-dessus du fjord. La photographie\u2014montrant son fr\u00e8re Bernhard Randulff et un guide local\u2014fut publi\u00e9e la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e dans l\u2019annuaire du Stavanger Trekking Association, suscitant un premier int\u00e9r\u00eat pour Kjeragbolten parmi les amateurs de montagne de la r\u00e9gion. Aujourd\u2019hui, plus de 30 voies y sont \u00e9tablies, chacune mesurant au moins 500 m\u00e8tres de haut. Apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9couvert la photographie de Randulff datant de 1925, Kjell Helle Olsen et Leif Solheim, membres du Stavanger Trekking Association, se sont rendus \u00e0 Kjerag et ont \u00ab red\u00e9couvert \u00bb le Kjeragbolten.
